John & J...

My 10-year-old Standard has been a great dog and wonderful companion despite MY poor judgment earlier in his life not to do obedience training. The thing is, he is almost too affectionate. As he gets older, he continues to demand more and more attention, constantly getting under my feet and trying to make whoever is in the house pet or pay attention to him. He gets love and a reasonable amount of attention, so I can’t figure out why he won’t leave people alone after a few minutes. Any experience with this? Next time I think I’d like a breed that can be a bit more independent. |

I think That really shows how loving these breeds are. Aside from being affectionate, they are protective too. It’s no wonder breeders wanted to duplicate this dog in different sizes for different needs. Standard Schnauzers are not only highly intelligent and excellent family companions, they’re uniquely handsome, even aristocratic, in appearance. Renowned for their guarding abilities and devotion to their families, they’re also often described as a dog with a human brain.
