Hi,

One of the nearby shelters has a female Lab/Dalmation mix puppy that is very cute. Before I try to adopt her, how large (in pounds) is she likely to get?

Thanks!

Diane

Hi, There,

I would imagine, now I am only guessing, a little under 60 lbs. Now, I am guessing first because she is a female, and because I don’t know the parents. So, read on the Dalmation breed and the Lab breed. Take the two together and you have a guestimate only. You can look at her overall size proportion and ask the shelter boss what his/her opinion is. Dals are very active and are referred to “the coach dog” because they traveled with their masters along side the coach and were just tall enough to walk underneath them and they have a fondness for horses. They have great stamina as does the Lab. However, the Dal is not quite fond of the cold weather. Labs have a little more braun in them – male and female. The Dal was also used as a hunting dog too.

Good Luck!

That is such a lovely mix! Both breeds are affectionate with family. Female Labs average weight is 62 pounds, while Dalmatians average weight is 48 to 55 pounds. Now you have an idea how large is she likely to get. To know more, please click on:

Since I’ve owned and trained both breeds, I’m guessing she will be between 50-60 pounds. It is really important since she is half Dalmatian to start training early, and be consistant. Dalmations are smart dogs and get bored easily. Once they learn a command, it’s like they say to you I know that, now let’s move on. Hopfully your puppy will have the people pleasing desire of her Lab parent. Both breeds are active and require lots of exercise. I can tell you from experience if a Dal gets bored, they will make their own entertainment, and it may involve distroying something you don’t want distroyed! Good Luck with your puppy! I think that you have a good mix.

I own a female DAL/LAB mix and she averages 65 lbs. I give her frequent walks. Very long on the weekends. She’s really smart, and wants to please. The mixing of these two breeds seems to have brought out the best of both. My brother has two cattle dog/Border collie mix puppies and my Dal/Lab mix (Kyra) has taken it apon herself to train them. Simply amazing.
