I’m worried about my pug and squeak toys and water. He hates squeak toys he will hide from them or try to get between me and the toy. I adopted him from the pound so I thought it might be a previous owner thing. Does anyone else have this problem? I also heard that pugs can’t swim they just sink. I’m near pools and rivers a lot and usually I will not sit him down for fear of him drowning. Is that true? |

I have 3 pugs and 2 of them love, love, love squeak toys!!! The other one couldn’t care less about them. Yes, it is very true that pugs can’t swim…..be very, very careful around water. |

My puggy adores his sqeakers, but he’s not too fond of the water. I’ve only ever taken him to the beach and he just barks at the waves. We haven’t had the oppotunity to swim in a pool, but you can see all sorts of videos on youtube of pugs swiming in pools. As long as you moniter their first encounters, a pug is still a dog and should still have his “doggy paddle” instinct. |
