My puppy is white and tan. He’s sort of timid but I think he will warm up eventually. He has serious potty issues. I have training pads but he doesn’t like it too much. What do I do if he uses the bathroom anywhere other than the pad or outdoors? Do I reprimand him? Run his nose in it?? I’m very confused!

You are confusing him. If youwant him to go outside get rid of the pads. Crate train him. When hecomes out of the crate take him to the same place everytime to go potty. Reward with a tiny tiny treat something he never gets anyother time give treat tohim as soon as he goes potty donot wait until you go back inside he will not know what he did todeserve the treat tell him GOOD BOY! Pet him and make abig deal of it. If hedoes not go potty put him back in the crate and try again in 30 minutes continue until he goes. When he does go then he can come out a have play time. Keep in the crate all the time when you cannot watch him 100% of the time or else he is in the crate. Consistensey is the key. He wil catch on quick if you reward him.

I agree, I think training pads are not only a waste of money but they slow down potty training. If you want him to learn to go consistently in the same place, pay attention to when he eats and drinks. If he’s very young he cant help it, they have poor bladder control because they arent developed, make sure to pay attention to the way he acts and take him out very frequently. I had to take my dog out every hour when I first got her…after about a week she got the hang of it and I could go 2 hrs. Its all a process, he’ll get it but if you dont want him to go in the house, dont use training pads! good luck!
