Indypie Planet Earth 11 posts	Can you teach a dog to swim or do they just know how? Or, does it depend on the breed?
ckhunt 1 post	I have never had to teach a dog how to swim.Every dog I have had learned on their own. I have owned sporting dogs and house dogs.
jeanfogle 4 posts	My dog Molly has taught quite a few dogs to swim. I get a toy they all like and after seeing Molly retrieve, she is a retrieving JRT!, they often jump right in. Once they are in , most of them take to it like a duck to water! At the beach, i see people picking up thier dogs and dumping them in the water, this is a sure fire way to ensure they will never like the water! balloons101 18 posts	Its sort of a dogs instinct to know how to swim so i would try going in the shallow part of the pool and swimming with your dog until he gets the hang of it !!! O and 1 more thing if your asking advice on a dog wahy do you have a picture of a cat….................. jokking i guess you like cats too right ? :)

To balloons101 – Yeah, I’ve always been a cat person but have also become a dog person through my daughter who lives with me and through the fellow I married 2 years ago. The kitty in my picture (Indy) has feline Leukemia. Knew something was terribly wrong shortly after bringing her home from Dumb Friends League. She looks kinda sad in the picture doesn’t she?
Luna 97 posts	We discovered on Sunday that our Goldendoodle can swim (I guess we were expecting it, since Golden retrievers and Poodles are both water dogs), but it was great to see genetics kicking in!!!
