Comments: DogTime launches 'Save a Dog' Facebook app

AvatarWhat if you are already on facebook but cannot get into your page? My password is not working and I cannot seem to get any response from facebook to reset it . What do I do?” — Becca, Jul 09 2009

Sit_thumbnailBy working with RescueGroups.org, we are able to help the largest number of small and struggling rescue groups at once. While there are undoubtedly thousands of rescue groups that could use the help, we do not have the ability to directly donate to all of them. If you have a suggestion for a rescue group that could benefit from a donation, please suggest it; I'd be happy to consider profiling them for my Road to Rescue series.” — Leslie Smith, Jun 24 2009

AvatarThink you have the right idea, but I agree that the funds you will donate should go directly to a rescue, not a hosting company. Most rescues maintain their own websites and promote adoption themselves (at least the legit ones do) so I think you need to rethink your decision here, ” — carol, Jun 24 2009

Sit_thumbnailResponse from the editor: How does this help dogs? Glad you asked. RescueGroups.org is an official nonprofit organization working with shelter groups around the country. They provide essential technical services that allow rescues and shelters to post their pets on the Internet, thereby greatly increasing their chances for adoption. Most of RescueGroup.org's services are free, but they do charge a nominal fee for website setup to cover their own costs. And through donations, RescueGroups.org is able to provide its services free of charge to animal welfare groups that cannot afford them. Like us here at Dogtime, the goal of RescueGroups.org is to get needy animals adopted into loving, caring homes -- permanently. Our hope is that we can all work together to achieve this.” — Leslie Smith, Jun 22 2009

AvatarNice idea but how about the food going directly to my rescue??? In this economy with donations down to nothing my daughter struggles to feed the 6 remaining dogs we have up for adoption.

AvatarHow is this helping dogs when you are donating the money to rescuegroups.org which is a group that host website's. They charge for the website. It is not free. They also do not donate money to the rescue groups that they host. We were one of their first groups to use them and they charged us and are always asking us for more money. They even charge you when you have a questions about your own website. You should of donated the money to Petfinder.com who actually gives grants to the groups on their site.” — CinSloan, Jun 21 2009
