“Six years ago we adopted Ginger who is a dead ringer for Lucas and Squeaker in facial features and color. She is a mixed breed pitbull dog and is very tall and weighs 90 lbs. She was part of a litter of puppies who had been taken to our SPCA. She is so intelligent, people friendly and beautiful. As she matured we did notice increasing dog and small animal aggression tendencies despite socializing her with some neighborhood dogs,dogs at the dog park and with our cats. We acquired another small pit mix puppy, Odie, in 2004, and the two dogs are great company for each other. Ginger is still the dominant dog, and Odie is quite content to be easy going and submissive. I can see that in addition to the environment that pitbull dogs and pit mixes experience, innate behaviors as displayed in our two dogs are also responsible in part for their behavior patterns. the one who brings sunshine and smiles into my world everyday.I only wish people would learn about this beautiful animal before crossing the street for fear this dog will hurt them for no good reason.Since I have had my Rockie,who turned 2 on the 4th of July this year,I have tried so hard to make people understand what this breed is all about..

“My son recently adopted a pitbull puppy who had to be dumped by the family because they live in a "no pit" zone in Fl. I have 5 dogs, 2 very old, and 2 very small, and had never had a pitbull though I have picked up many. I was concerned for my dogs/cat/bunnies/chickens/birds because of the reputation pitties have. Well, this dog is the most wonderful, intelligent and sweet girl! I have been the guardian, permanent and/or temporary, of many dogs, but this baby is amazing. Just a sweet, gentle soul.
