“To train a dog to be good you have to treat it well and spend time with it. You have to take a big respocibility.”

“I have an American Bulldog/Golden Retriever mix (17 mo) (couldn't tell his mother was golden...all bulldog at sight) We have 4 other goldens...2 females 6 &3 yrs) and 2 males (10 mo) When Goober was small, we had a 12 yr old male golden (Rufus)and when Goob 'came of age', Rufus gave him a hard time. (Rufus died Jan from cancer)
This is for ANYONE that doesn't get their pets spayed or neutered and have a pack......DOESN"T WORK!! Because I was lazy and didn't get them fixed and allowed Rufus to be the 'Pack leader', Goob is now very aggressive toward the 2 male puppies. I went in Feb and had them ALL fixed, and it has started to help, but Goob still wants to fight occasionally w/ the males. (I've noticed a pattern and dealing w/ it) BUT...point being.......get your pet spayed or neutered and BE THE PACK LEADER. It will save you so much heartache. ”

“I've been taking my dog to several city parks for 8 yrs.
The worst dogs are leashed and even worse because most owners can't control them. They're territorial, extremely protective, neurotic and most are leashed for a reason. the owner is too lazy to socialize or train them.
The dogs off leash are the friendly ones, hands down. They are not protective but are trained to obey, love playing with people and other dogs there The kids loving playing with them too.
Our City Vet said that most dog bites are on or near a dog's property and most all dog bites are to small boys, probably teasing and taunting them.
Pit Bulls long ago were bred to fight other dogs. They are very loving to people and are owner pleasers.
Our fantastic city kills all Pit Bulls if an owner doesn't come forward within 3 days. But the only way you'll know its a Pit Bull is through DNA..
How did we elect such an ignorant City Council?
The reason your stats say more Pit Bulls bite is that there are 20 or more dog types that appear to the unknowledgeable to be Pit Bulls but aren't
The reason there are more guard dogs is that there is more crime....duh!
But we with intimidating dogs also don't use the police to protect our homes the police's time for those afraid to own dogs. Almost humorous if it weren't so sad.
I've found that the poor dogs get the raw end of the stupid owner deals.
Why doesn't the US do more to put backyard breeders and puppy mills out of business? Two areas where poorly bred dogs originate.
And dog owners who train dogs to fight to be jailed?
Because it's easier to blame the dog? It has no say in any decision.

“ I have heard it said that no dog is BORN aggressive; they are CREATED, and I agree 100%.
While each dog breed has its own unique traits, how well a dog is socialized and trained has much more to do with a dog's temperament than its overall makeup. It is the owner's responsibility to properly train and socialize his/her dog.
