Even if you have a big, big yard, dogs need outside of their environment exercise. This stimulates them and helps them to learn to be in other environments in a positive way. And remember, a tired dog is less likely to get into trouble.

Aside from the breed or mixed-breed traits, remember, the other qualities you are looking for depends on the environment the dog lives in. I believe in socializing a young pup right away with people of all sizes, shapes, ages. This includes puppy play groups, and meeting and socializing with other friendly dogs of all sizes too. Your dog must “grow” and “learn” how to be a good dog with gentle but firm discipline, consistency, patience, and good leadership. So, the long and short of it depends on how YOU raise puppy to be a well-behaved, well-mannered, balanced and happy dog.

“There is no 'bad' breed of dog. A dog's personality and behavior depends on many factors, including genetics, socialization, training, and early experiences during puppyhood. In other words, it has a lot to do with you, the owner.

Likewise, there's no breed of dog that is intrinsically good. (Remember, the dog who led to the world's first human face transplant was a Lab.)
