“The role Debbie plays is one that even the most animal loving human does not dare to imagine. As a true lover of animals I can only say that I dream of a day when I would be able to own a farm where I could take in animals that have been discharged by society. I just adopted a rescue pup found on the streets and almost killed by an oncoming car. Brady (schnauzer/poodle mix) was even being dismissed by the petshop owner that took him in because he was "more than she could handle". I sing my praises to you, Debbie, for doing what most of us wouldn't even dream to do!!!”

“Debbie is a truly remarkable person. The dog "Weaver" was adoped by a disabled man that had three small children and the adoption did not work out. Weaver came back to Debbie and Second Chance Pet Rescue. He was then requested by another shelter in Chico and was there from October 2008 to February 2009. My husband and I adopted Weaver on February 10, 2009. If it had not been for Debbie and all her efforts we would not have this wonderful dog in our lives. I wish more people would get involved with her shelter and convince the city of Corning to give her more support than just free rent. Weaver was honored as the Ambassador Dog at the second annual "Music For Mutts", a fund raiser, on May 2nd in Corning.”

“Glad to see that you are an AFF Grantee.
I have supported them and will continue to support them because of people like you who give Pit Bulls the chance they deserve.
They seem to have the knack for recognizing the people who really are helping and who can make the difficult decisions when they must be made.
I hope Sunny`s forever family is reading this story and shows up soon to take him home.”

“Thank you Debbie. It has been a pleasure working with you.
Debbie's role does not end at the shelter, she sits with each dog at the vets office REGARDLESS of the situation. What a hero!!!!
A BIG THANK YOU FROM,

“Eaglebarger's great achievement is not only saving and enriching the lives of the "throwaway dogs" who have come into her care for the last five years, but also in envisioning and implementing much-needed change that will have a lasting impact on her town for years. Her courage and dedication is heroic.”

“Having witnessed the humanity that this shelter represents and embodies, I can attest to the author's account. My mother is performing a service for our community and has, throughout this process, created a new model for K-9 adoption. ”

“I am moved every time I hear what Debbie has accomplished. She should be held up as a positive example of what all shelters should be about -- especially in rural areas. The dogs who come live in her shelter with her are given the best care possible in pretty tough circumstances. I hope Weaver finds a home soon! Where do I send my donation? ”
