Alternative medicine for cancer?

QUESTION:

Can alternative medicine really treat serious medical issues, like cancer?

answered by Shawn Messonnier

ANSWER:

Absolutely! In my practice, pets with cancer are usually treated with both conventional therapies such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, plus many alternative therapies including dietary therapy, herbal therapy, homeopathy, and nutritional supplementation.

While I use an integrative approach in treating most of my cancer patients, there are those cases for which there are no conventional therapies. For example, there are no good conventional therapies for most pets with lung cancer or liver cancer. In these instances, only alternative medicine offers any hope for these pets.

Many of my cancer patients treated with only alternative therapies have responded dramatically, beating the odds and living much longer than expected. In my book, The Natural Vet's Guide to Preventing and Treating Cancer in Dogs, I outline many of the therapies I use to help prevent cancer in some of my patients as well as heal many of those patients who do have cancer.

Because of the power that alternative therapies have in helping pets with cancer heal themselves, I believe it alternative therapies should be a part of every cancer patient's medical treatment.

I wish I would have seen this article sooner. I made a decision to operate my dog. It has been 36 hours after the surgery he could not eat and he is in a lot of pains. He is 14 years old. When I took him the the hospital, they did not leave me much choice except surgery, I asked for pain relief but they refused to give it to Bravo. They said he is in pain, though he is walking around but just not eating. I noticed pain in his eyes and his body language and I also see the X-Ray. The X-Ray looks horrible so at time, to get my baby out of misery I decided to go for surgery. Now, they said he is old and it takes time to recovery...
If I did not operate him, If I only let him be himself and maybe it would have been a better choice.
My dog is not replaceable I raise him as my child. I just hope that he will come back to me. And that I will take care of him by using your alternative method.” — jshc00, Oct 18 2008

I have never had any experience with this, but one of my good friends had two Weimaraners that she lost to cancer. She had her first dog with conventional treatments. She did not respond well to the treatments. When her second dog was diagnosed with the same cancer, she opted for alternative medicine and according to her he did much better. ” — ivycat, Jul 07 2008
